2. California Secretary of State Business Search - http://kepler.sos.ca.gov/ — allows you to determine if another company has been established with the name you chose for your company. It isn't 100% accurate since it is a couple of days behind but it is free.
3. California Forms, Fees, and Samples - http://www.sos.ca.gov/business/be/forms.htm - allows you to download sample forms for creating your Articles of Incorporation (for California corporations) and Statement and Designation of a Foreign Corporation (any company established outside of California).
4. California Secretary of State Processing Times - http://www.sos.ca.gov/business/be/processing-times.htm . - tells you how long you will have to wait before you get a file-stamped copy back of any filing you made with the California Secretary of State.
5. California Employment Development Department - http://www.edd.ca.gov/ - tells you all you need to know regarding hiring in the state of California.
6. IRS EIN Assistant - https://sa2.www4.irs.gov/modiein/individual/index.jsp - allows you to obtain an EIN, tax identification number, for your new company.
